Biography |
Sérgio Piancó, 45, Brazilian artist, painter, language tutor, translator and writer. He was born in a quite small town (Acopiara – Ceará) Northeast Brazil. He started painting professionally in 1994 when he was already 30. He has taken most of his inspiration from the Brazilian Culture, its fauna, nature, historical buildings and festivals, as well as, from the Renaissance and mythological themes, specially the Egyptian Mythology. At the moment, he has been working with decorative art panels, attaching several different materials taken from garbage, such as, pieces and computer boards, a variety of caps, plastic parts from toys and disposable materials. Another series is the one displayed here using cultural icons from the rich Brazilian Culture. He has also been working on a series of about 50 pictures with the theme “Egypt in Me” with the aim of exposing them in museums and galleries worldwide. He is also an enthusiastic player of programs and initiatives aiming to help the Planet be a better place and thus, become a Global Village. He does believe his artwork can help people understand what Sustainability is and what the concept of Sustainable Art stands for.
