Biography |
|
Eric Hawkinson (aka Hawk) is an emerging and innovative artist
living in Turlock, California. His unique, self-taught style involves
the free-hand use of pen and ink to create imaginative
abstract design. With no initial vision as he starts each piece,
each spontaneously develops as he draws.
At a point, and normally well into each piece,
the vision becomes clear, and the work continues.
His work is completed with fine-tipped
marking pens, and many of them.
Hawk uses no mechanical tools in his work, while
still able to draw with amazing precision,
which is part of their unique charm.
With great attention to detail,
each piece involves numerous hours to complete.
A good number of drawings remain black and white,
while others are "brought to life" with color.
Hawk is very interested in the interpretation of his work,
which can vary greatly from one individual to the next.
Hawk's inspiration deeply involves the complexities in life,
beauty in nature, visions from his past, and the music he loves.
Hawk finds further inspiration through
the works of artists MC Escher and Peter Max.
