Stef Furness is inspired by people (as a portrait painter) and by the effects of light on various surfaces (as a photographer). She admires the works of Spanish artists: Velazquez, Picasso, Dali, Gaudi, the swordsmiths of Toledo, dancers of Flamenco, and musicians of Tuna. The images of Dorothea Lange, Ansel Adams, Caravaggio, Degas, Cezanne, and, yes, Da Vinci open her eyes and take her away. She also draws on words of writers like Heinlein and Vonnegut, as well as the sounds of songbirds and sunbeams.
She is currently in pursuit of an MFA in painting at Academy of Art University in San Francisco, California.
